Abstract

Absorbent materials, such as panty liners, thin full-sized sanitary napkins, and similar items, are prepared with a clothing-facing side and a body-facing side that can be retained in a folded form before use. Adhesive and release tabs, most commonly silicone, are attached to the clothing-facing side of the absorbent. The adhesive and release tabs are designed so that when the absorbent is folded, the adhesive contacts the release tab, eliminating the need for a paper release tab but allowing the absorbent to be unfolded and used. Other designs, using a barrier film attached to the clothing-facing side of the absorbent, are also described. This barrier film replaces the outer covering to protect the body-facing side of the sanitary napkin from soiling before use. Procedures for manufacturing and packaging absorbent materials are also provided.

Claims (1)

The absorbent material, with a side facing the body and a side facing the garment, has transverse and longitudinal ends. Here, the side facing the body consists of the absorbent core, and the side facing the garment consists of at least one adhesive area with adhesive strips positioned aligned with the transverse ends of the absorbent material, and at least one release area with release strips, and at least three fold lines where the absorbent material can be folded so that the detachable adhesive strips are attached to the adhesive strips, with the side facing the garment almost completely blocking the side facing the body from the outside.
