The blade elements are mounted in a rotating or folding manner around an axis and are spring-loaded to return to their normal position where their cutting angle is maximum. In operation, when the razor is subjected to high tensile forces, the blade elements are moved to reduce their cutting angle. The blade elements may respond directly to the tensile forces applied to them or indirectly to the deformation of the guard under high tensile forces.

Claims

1. A safety razor consists of a frame supporting one or more blade elements in such a way that the blade elements are allowed to move relative to the frame against elastic recoil forces in response to the forces the razor is subjected to during use. This is defined such that the element or each blade element (16, 116, 205A/B 318) is mounted on the frame to move angularly around an axis parallel to the blade edge in a direction which reduces the shaving angle of the blade element in response to an increase in traction forces acting parallel to the direction of shaving (Clause 12, Figure 13).
