Abstract

A cassette device for recording and/or replicating information signals on and from a recording disk by a read/write head. The disk is stored in a cassette and is mounted on the cassette device so that the recording disk is positioned in a predefined relationship with the read/write head. The device consists of a microcomputer housing base, a magnetic disk cassette support mounted on the housing base near the read/write head to support the cassette, and a mechanism for moving the support. When the cassette is inserted, the support extends beyond the read/write head to a support position where it holds the cassette. Once the cassette is held in place and moving perpendicular to the main surface of the cassette, the support moves to a reverse position where it does not interfere with the magnetic attachment of the cassette.

Claims (4)

1. Magnetic disk drive device for recording and/or simulating information onto and from a flexible magnetic disk housed in a cartridge. The cartridge has a majority skin size equal to the majority face size supporting the magnetic disk on which recording/simulating occurs. The device comprises a housing, a magnetic read head for recording and/or simulating information onto and from the flexible magnetic disk, a head carriage mounted on the housing to support the magnetic head, and a disk cartridge mounted on the housing to hold the cartridge. The disk cartridge moves between two distinct states: the first state is when the magnetic read head records and/or simulates information onto and from the magnetic disk; the second state is when the cartridge is inserted onto and removed from the cartridge. The read head guard is designated as the first state. When the disk cartridge is in the first state, the read head guard is released from the cartridge. The head guard is set to the second position when the cassette is in the first state, to secure the head guard to the main surface of the cassette, to bias the cassette so that the attachment between the magnetic read head and the cassette is inhibited, and the actuator activates the head guard so that it is in the first position when the cassette is in the first state, and so that the head guard is in the second position when the cassette is in the second state. 2. Magnetic disk drive device as claimed in patent 1, where the head guard shall consist of a lever element attached to the said major surface of the said cartridge to move the said cartridge away from the magnetic read head, and where the actuator shall consist of a cam surface arranged on the said housing to move the lever element away from the said cartridge in a direction deemed perpendicular to the said major surface. 3. Magnetic disc drive device as claimed in patent 2, where such actuator shall consist of an actuating rod adjusted to actuate the outer root of the magnetic disc drive device; such actuating rod shall be movable between two different first and second positions; and a linkage mechanism to connect such actuating rod and such lever element so that the movement of the actuating rod between the first and second positions shall cause the movement of the such lever element along the cam surface. 4. The magnetic disk device as claimed in the second claim, where the lever part has a leading surface to grip onto the main surface of the cartridge when the cartridge is inserted onto the disk cartridge part, with the read head guard in the second position so that the main surface moves away from the magnetic read head.
