Abstract

The mixture consists of a gel-like absorbent material combined with a high level of odor control using an adhesive. This preferred particle formulation is easy to process and is used in the manufacture of sanitary pads, diapers, adhesive bandages, and similar products. The gel-like absorbent material enhances the odor control properties of the mixture by helping to control ammonia odor.

Claims (1)

1. The structure of the adsorbent material in the form of baby diapers, sanitary pads, or panty liners consists of a mixture of aggregated particles or aggregates, the aforementioned particles or aggregates being larger than approximately 100 microns as analyzed by sieves, the particles consist of (a) at least 20% by weight of particulate odor control agents which are a mixture of zeolites and reactive carbon odor control agents; (b) at least 40% by weight of gelatinous adsorbent material; and (c) water-soluble or dispersible binder material, selected from hydroxypropyl cellulose, hydroxyaethyl cellulose, hydroxymethyl cellulose, C1-C3 alkyl-substituted cellulose, malcodextrin, and mixtures of these.
