Description
A gravimeter-altimeter for the simultaneous measurement of the force of gravity of a height by a single instrument, in order to sharply reduce the volume of auxiliary altimeter work, is described in the ed. St. No. 67023. This device is implemented as a non-sealed spring gravimeter with two working systems having loads of different density. The measurement at points of terrain by measurement by both elastic systems, it is possible to obtain simultaneously the differences in the acceleration of gravity g and the changes in air density AS, corresponding to the height differences between these points.
The described gravimeter-altimeter in principle does not differ from the device, according to the author. St. No. 67023, however it has the following essentially new signs creating a new technical effect:
1. Both elastic gravimeter-altimeter systems are located on a common rigid frame one below the other, with the axes of rotation of the levers arranged in mutually perpendicular directions, which allows the use of one autocollimation optical system and have a simple and convenient reference system.
2. The ratio of the volume moments of the levers of both elastic systems is established so as to minimize the instrumental error of determining gravity anomalies. This is achieved by barometric compensation of one of the systems by means of an appropriately sized hollow hermetic chamber attached to the lever opposite to the load and establishing for the other system (altimeter) a large barometric coefficient — due to the hermetic hollow quartz balls serving as levers of the lever of this system, where g - the full value of the accelerated force of gravity.

The drawing shows the device of the described altimeter:
/ - барометрически скомпенсированна упруга система; // - высотомерна упруга система; /// - микрометрическое устройство; / - рабочие кольцевые пружины; 2 - горизонтальна ось вращени рычага; 3 - рычаг упругой системы; 4 - груз рычага; 5 - барометрический компенсатор рычага; 6 - герметические грузы рычага высотомерной системы; 7 - астазирующа система; 8 - астазирующие нити; 9 - зеркальце рычага; JO - компенсационные пружины; У/ - станина пружинных весов./ - barometric compensated elastic system; // - altimeter elastic system; /// - micrometer device; / - working ring springs; 2 - horizontal axis of rotation of the lever; 3 - the lever of the elastic system; 4 - lever weight; 5 - barometric compensator lever; 6 - hermetic weights of the lever of the altimeter system; 7 - astasis system; 8 - astasis threads; 9 - lever mirror; JO - compensation springs; At / - a bed of spring scales.
Both elastic systems of the altimeter are located on a common rigid frame one below the other, with the axes of rotation of the levers arranged in mutually perpendicular directions.
Due to this arrangement, when adjusting the device, it is possible to set the horizontal position of both axes of swing of the levers by the inclination of the entire device.
The horizontality of the arms of the elastic systems themselves is set in the gravimeter-altimeter by turning the arms themselves around the swing axes by changing the weight of their working weights.
To observe the angular displacements of the levers, an autocollimation system with an illuminated scale is used, similar to the optical system of serial gravity mega microsystems. Both elastic systems are observed by the same autocollimation optical system, for which the mirrors of the levers of both elastic systems as well as the fixed mirror, which serves to fix the outgoing positions of the levers, are located near the axis of the lens.
Due to the mutually perpendicular arrangement of the axes of rotation of the levers of the elastic systems, the displacement of the movable ends of the levers (with a change in gravity or air density) is depicted in the field of view of the ocular as the displacement of movable luminous shchak in mutually perpendicular directions.
The device has only one micrometer count with a meter; The upper ends of the reference compensation springs of both elastic systems are connected to the carriage of this micrometer.
In the same way, arresting devices of both elastic systems have one common control knob displayed on the top panel of the device.
Thus, the top panel of the gravimeter-altimeter is no different from the top panel of a conventional gravimeter.
In connection with this, the technique of working with the proposed gravimeter-altimeter differs from the technique of working with a conventional gravimeter only in that in the gravimeter-terrain meter, after installing the device in terms of the levels and demarring of the elastic system, two pointing of two mutually perpendicular Schtrichs instead of one .
