Description

(54) METHOD FOR PRODUCING SODIUM HYDROXIDE

The invention relates to alkaline hydrometallurgy, in particular to methods for processing solutions of alkali metal salts by electrolysis a. A known method for the study of caustic soda from a solution of sodium chloride in a 2-chamber electric mixer with a cation-exchange membrane. The disadvantage of this method is that it cannot be used to decompose a solution of sodium sulfate, due to acidification of the anolyte and the participation of current transfer ions. A method is also known for producing sodium hydroxide by electrodialy in a three-chamber electrodialyzer with sodium sulfate solution fed into the middle chamber, and sodium hydroxide solution 12 in the cathode chamber 12. A disadvantage of the known method is that, along with the transfer of sulfate ions from the reaction chamber to anodic, the transfer of ions And from the anode to the reaction chamber. The drug in the reaction chamber is acidified and the transfer of H ions to the catholyte begins, which reduces the sodium flow, i.e. alkali generation efficiency. The purpose of the invention is to increase the current efficiency. The goal is achieved by the method of producing sodium hydroxide by electrodialysis in a three-chamber electrodialyzer with sodium sulfate solution being fed into the middle chamber, sodium hydroxide solution into the cathode chamber, and a soda soda solution is fed into the anodine chamber and electrodialysis is brought to pH of the solution in the anode chamber 6 -7. In the anode chamber during the process of electrodialysis, soda decomposes and the concentration of sodium sulfate increases due to the transfer of ions 50 from the reaction Ks1mer. The process is carried out until complete decomposition of soda in the anode chamber, i.e. to pH anolyte 6-7. The sodium sulfate solution formed in the anode chamber is then transferred to the reaction chamber and decomposed when soda solution is introduced into the anode chamber. The solution containing 1 soda can be obtained by dissolving the by-products of alumina production, such as co-sulphate cake. In this case, the solution is already at the beginning of the
