Abstract

Process for prodn. of thread of elastomeric or thermosetting plastic material on a flat substrate, fr mfr. of gaskets, is carried out by pressing or injection moulding the viscous plastic material, with a Mooney viscosity of 20-90 at room temp., on a substrate in a mould cavity. The plastic has greater adhesion to the substrate than to the mould, and the thread is vulcanised or completely polymerised by heating in a kiln or by hot pressing. The plastic used may be nitrile rubber, polyacrylic resin, silicone, fluorinated elastomers partic. copolymers or vinylidene fluoride with hexafluoropropylene and/or epoxy resins. The thread can be applied within few secs. without loss of material and with a thickness of =several mm.
