Description

A known fusion welding technique for tantalum, vanadium, niobium and their alloys with iron-based alloys containing chromium and nickel, based on the use of a bronze intermediate insert, which is satisfactorily welded to both metals to be welded.

Tantalum, vanadium, niobium and their alloys are welded with an intermediate insert made of bronze, then the other side of the intermediate insert is welded with an iron-based alloy containing chromium and nickel. The welded joint obtained by this method has two welds.

The main disadvantage of this method is the low corrosion resistance during operation of the welded joint in aggressive media. Another is the possibility of destruction of a welded joint in the zone of fusion of refractory metals and their alloys with bronze, due to the formation of structures with increased hardness and low ductility in the welding process.

The proposed method differs from that in that, in order to improve the quality of welding, monel-metal is used as an intermediate insert, which is completely melted during the welding process.

In the proposed method, welding is carried out in a single pass, i.e., without reheating the metal to high temperatures, and thereby improves the quality of the welded joints and reduces the laboriousness of the welding works by half. In automatic welding, existing welding machines with a non-consumable electrode with double-sided protection of the weld with argon are used.

Subject invention

The method of fusion welding of titanium with steel using an intermediate insert, characterized in that, in order to improve the quality of welding, monel-metal is used as an intermediate insert, which is completely melted during the welding process.
