Abstract

FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method for production of chromium carbide includes mixing of chromium oxide powder and carbon reducing agent, briquetting of produced mixture and charging them into ore electrothermic furnace. Melting is carried out with reducing agent-to-dichromium dioxide ratio in charge of 0.35-0.38 and correction of depth of electrode setting by reducing current load by 5-20% by loading charge with reducing agent-to-dichromium trioxide ratio of 0.33-0.345. Charge is charged into electric furnace by portion. Produced chromium carbide is ground to fraction of minus 0.4 mm with subsequent gravitation cleaning at rarefaction of 20-300 mm of water column and removal of free carbon down to concentration of 0.5%, and further grinding to minus 0.2 mm. Grinding is effected by wet milling with simultaneous classification of powder at solid-to-liquid ratio of 1:1 to 1:0 with withdrawal of free carbon to concentration less than 0.3 %. After grinding powder is treated with solution of mineral acid at solid-to-liquid ratio of 1:1 to 1:10 at 20-30 C. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 5 cl, 6 tbl
