Description
The invention relates to accelerator technology, in particular to high-current electron guns.
The invention can be used to create industrial electron accelerators for technological applications and microwave sources for plasma heating in nuclear traps.
The aim of the invention is to increase the durability of the photocathode when used in high-current high-voltage electronic devices.
Samples of cathodes were made in an induction furnace in an argon atmosphere, followed by casting into a copper mold. As the charge materials used aluminum grade A99 and magnesium brand MP. The ingots were machined on a lathe. Samples of photocathodes were 20 mm in diameter and 4 mm thick.
Quantum yield of samples with different barium content of 10%; one%; 2.5; 7.5; 10% by weight) was measured on a special test bench, which made it possible to measure the value of the quantum yield at a wavelength of 249 nm.
FIG. Figures 1 and 2 show the results of measuring the quantum yield for magnesium and aluminum alloys with barium of various weight compositions.
ч.A decrease in barium content in an alloy with magnesium of less than 0.025 May. hours and in the alloy with aluminum, 0.01 wt.h. led to a decrease in the quantum yield to a value close to the quantum yield for pure magnesium and aluminum. The same effect was observed when the barium in the alloy with magnesium exceeded more than 0.075 parts by weight. and in an alloy with aluminum over, 0,025 May. h
Дл использовани в сильноточной высоковольтной эл°ектронной пушке были изготовлены катоды следующего состава;For use in a high-current high-voltage electron gun, cathodes of the following composition were made;

Выбор указанных составов производили на основании результатов измерени квантового выхода дл сплавов с различным содержанием бари .The choice of these compositions was made on the basis of the results of measuring the quantum yield for alloys with different barium contents.
Tests of the gun showed that the photocathode of magnesium alloy with barium stably provides the emission current density up to 180 A / cm2, and the photocathode of aluminum alloy with barium up to 40 A / cm under technical vacuum conditions and frequent high-voltage tests on the cathode. The efficiency of such photocathodes persisted for
нескольких часов без изменени их параметров .several hours without changing their parameters.
The invention allows to significantly increase the durability of photocathodes in high-current high-voltage equipment.
