Description
This invention relates to medicine and can be used to diagnose dental diseases.
The purpose of the invention is to improve the accuracy of the method by eliminating the effect of moisture evaporation.
The method is carried out as follows.
A paper applicator (filter, Whatman paper or other porous paper or cellulose grades), pre-weighed to the accuracy of 0.1 mg, is applied to the examined mucous area, one of the surfaces of which is completely covered with a polymer-based adhesive tape, for example, from polyethylene. At the same time, the paper side of the applicator is attached to the mucous membrane, the dimensions of which are preselected in accordance with the area under study and the task set. The applicator is kept for a predetermined time, after which it is removed and immediately folded so that its paper base is covered on all sides with a polymer film. The applicator is reweighed and the amount of collected saliva is determined by the difference in mass before and after exposure, and the rate of saliva release (V, µl) is calculated by the formula

А. Example 1. Volunteer K. A. M., 27 years old, healthy. The procedure for collecting saliva was as follows. From a Whatman paper was prepared a rectangular shape applicator measuring 24x15 mm, which was glued to a sticky tape with a polyethylene base with one surface. Lipka tape was cut from three sides along the edge of the applicator, and from the fourth (long) side a strip 8 mm wide and 30 mm long was left. Immediately before collecting the saliva, the applicator was weighed on an analytical balance that provides 0.1 mg accuracy. The mass of the applicator is 144.4 mg. Volunteer K.A.M. they put him in a dental chair in a pose that was comfortable for him with his head slightly thrown back and asked, holding the edges of the lower lip with both hands, to slightly unscrew it. The surface of the lower lip of the examined was blotted with a cotton swab and the applicator was positioned in its middle part so that the surface of the Whatman paper did not close touched the mucous membrane of the lip. At the time of contact of the Whatman paper with the mucous, the stopwatch was turned on. During the exposure, the subject sat with closed teeth and breathed through his nose. The upturned position of the head eliminated the possibility of wetting the applicator with the saliva of large glands. After 4 minutes of contact, the applicator was removed, immediately rolled up so as to close the paper on all sides with a plastic base of adhesive tape, and weighed in a folded form. The weight of the applicator after exposure was 180.9 mg. Thus, the mass of the collected saliva of the small glands of the lower lip is 36.5 mg. The area of the mucous with which saliva was collected corresponds to the area of whatman paper and is 3.6 cm. Since the duration of saliva collection is 4 minutes, and the density of saliva is 1.01 mg / µl, the rate of saliva release by the small glands of the lower lip, which was

5 that the known method does not allow an accurate determination of the rate of excretion of saliva by small glands, yielding a result that is, on average, underestimated by more than 40%. This understatement is due to the intensive evaporation of saliva from the surface of the applicator, both during the collection of saliva and between the end of the collection and the beginning of weighing. In the proposed method, enclosing the applicator for a time
