Abstract
The invention relates to hydraulic engineering and land reclamation construction and can be used to study coarse clastic soils that form embankments. The purpose of the invention is to improve the accuracy of research by taking into account the errors associated with decompression of soils on the end surfaces. The method for determining the deformation of coarse-grained soils includes making a sample with a metal disk placed in its central part, placing two samples in odometers, creating a load on them, determining the deformation of each of them, and calculating the true deformation.

The purpose of the invention is to improve the accuracy of research by taking into account the errors associated with decompaction of the soil on the end surface.
The method is implemented as follows.
A sample of coarse soil is placed in the odometer. A metal disk is placed in an additional sample of coarse-grained soil and installed in the same odometer. The samples create a step load and

Example. For testing, a gravel mixture of 40 mm in size was used. The experiments were carried out in odometers, with a diameter of 250 mm and at a compressive stress of 0-3 MPa, corresponding to the existing stress.
A sample of soil with a height of 31 cm is placed in the odometer. After that, metal gits are installed on it, through which a load is applied by steps and absolute and relative values are measured.

0,027; 0,044; 0,074; 0,127; 0,160.An additional sample is tested similarly to the first one, but when loaded into its central part a metal disk is placed creating two additional surfaces. At the same time, the following relative deformation is obtained: 0.027; 0.044; 0.074; 0.127; 0.160.
