Description
5The invention relates to testing equipment, namely, devices for studying the corrosion-electrochemical properties of metals and alloys in a mechanically stressed state. 5
The purpose of the invention is the approximation of the research conditions to the working conditions of the metal digesters of periodic action.
The drawing shows an electrode in a test chamber.
The device, located in the test chamber 1, contains a mandrel 2 of a non-conductive inert material, isolating the non-working surfaces of the element 3 from the influence of a corrosive environment, parallel screw mechanisms for loading the element 3 of the metal under study, one of which consists of a screw 4. which is simultaneously the electrode holder rigidly fixed in the element 3, and the load nut 5. The second consists of a screw 6, screwed into the element 3. The working part of the sample is a flat disk connected with 25 two semicylinders separated by a gap. into one of which a screw-holder 4 is screwed, passing with a gap through the hole in the second half cylinder, in which the screw is screwed 6. The device is equipped with elements (not shown) that prevent crevice and contact corrosion.
35The device is used as follows. 35
The electrode is placed in the test chamber 1 and in accordance with the test program create mechanical stresses in the working part of the element 3 using loading mechanisms. To create tensile stresses, screw nut 5 onto screw 4 and tighten the free ends of the element’s half-cylinders. To create compressive stresses, release the first loader (by screwing nut 5 from screw 4) and screw screw 6 into element 3 and thereby extend the free ends of the half-cylinders of element 3. Thus, using these loaders, it is possible to simulate various stresses of the working section of the element, created as before tests, and in the process of testing. To determine the corrosion-10 electrochemical characteristics of a stressed metal, the electrode is connected to the measuring circuit necessary for the study through a screw-holder 4, which is simultaneously a current lead.
