Abstract

FIELD: gas analysis; particular, determination of nitrogen dioxide in decomposition products of explosives containing colloxylin; applicable in storage and use of explosives. SUBSTANCE: method for nondestructive testing of explosives consists in contacting the tested substance surface with indicator, and determination of the presence of gaseous products of decomposition by change of color of indicator. Indicator is used in form of flexible polyurethane foam (soft polyurethane foam). Substance surface and flexible polyurethane foam are kept in contact for, at least, 5 days. Presence of nitrogen dioxide is detected by appearance of dark brown color on flexible polyurethane foam. EFFECT: simplified method and provision of its application in products of complicated configuration and in difficult for access places.
