SUBSTANCE: when producing carbon tetrachloride by reaction of carbon disulfide with sulfur monochloride at molar ratio 1:(2.0-4.5) and elevated temperature in presence of metal- containing catalyst, product output may be increased and process temperature lowered if, as catalyst, complex of metal aluminium with sulfur monochloride taken in molar ratio (0.0005-0.0009):1 is employed, the process in this case being carried out at 65 C for 0.25-0.75 h. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of process.
