Abstract
The invention relates to medicine, namely ophthalmology, and can be used to determine the indications for extracapsular cataract extraction in the presence of a pair of healthy eyes. The purpose of the invention is to increase the accuracy and reliability of the study. The cornea thickness and cell density of its posterior epithelium are determined. With a cornea thickness of less than 0.8 mm, a cell density of at least 1600 cells / mm 2 on the affected eye and the difference in these indications between the healthy and the affected eye and respectively less than 0.08 mm and 340 cells / mm 2, extracapsular extraction is considered cataracts.
Description
The invention relates to medicine, more specifically to ophthalmology, and can be used to determine the indications for extracapsular extraction of unilateral cataract.
The aim of the invention is to increase the accuracy and reliability of the study.
The method is carried out as follows.
The state of the posterior corneal epithelium is assessed using a contact mirror microscope in both eyes. The research method is as follows. After instillation anesthesia with a 1% solution of dikain, the patient's head is fixed in the same way as with a slit lamp. Then, the applanation cylinder of the working part of the device is brought to the cornea of the examined eye so that the central zone of the cornea is located perpendicular to the axis of observation. Using a microscrew, the working part of the device contacts the front surface of the cornea, avoiding its deformation. The intensity of illumination is regulated; a clear image of cells of the posterior corneal epithelium is obtained in the area under study. The density of the cells of the posterior corneal epithelium is calculated using a computer device from photographic prints, negatives, or a monitor screen. At the same time, an area of a certain size and the corresponding coefficients given in the instructions for the device are used.
Simultaneously with the conduct of mirror microscopy, the thickness of the cornea in the central zone is taken into account in terms of the keratopachimeter mounted in the mirror microscope.
