SUBSTANCE: catalyst is prepared by two-step impregnating alumina with aqueous solution of platinum compounds and promoters in presence of hydrochloric acid or its mixture with sulfuric and acetic acids followed by drying and calcination of catalyst obtained in the air flow. Temperature of impregnating operation in the first step is 0-10 C, that of the second step 95-105 C. Using this catalyst makes it possible to produce gasoline with octane number 74.5-86.5 that is by 1.3-3.3 points higher than in known case. Yield of gasoline is 93-95.4% that is also higher by 0.7-3.1%. EFFECT: increased activity and selectivity of catalyst. 1 tbl
