Description

It is known to use for the detection of -radiation of halogen counters and scintills of cone counters with anthracene single crystals, stilbene, with thin layers of stilb on plexiglas substrates, with polystyrene-based scintillating plastic with p-terphenyl. Halogen counters have high p-radiation detection efficiency. but do not register low-energy p-radiation. Scintillation counters, with iOnocrites; lamis of anthracene and stilbene, along with high efficiency of р-radiation recording, have high sensitivity to v-background. With a decrease in the thickness of the crystals, the sensitivity to can be reduced, but at the same time the efficiency of p-radiation detection decreases. The size of single crystals is limited in diameter.

The proposed scintillor for detecting p-radiation on a 7-background is characterized in that in order to increase the conversion efficiency for low- and high-energy p-radiation, as well as to facilitate the technology of making large-sized scintillators, it is made in the form of a thin cylinder of scintillating plastic. Stilbene is sprayed onto plastic (in vacuum) with a density of about 15-20 MzlcM. The dimensions of the scintillator can be varied according to this: 1 and; yne and nq diameter.

Таким образом, при соответственно подобран-.The combination of scintillating plastics and a thin layer of stilbene makes it possible to increase the conversion efficiency of the scintillator to the radiation of high and low energies, i.e., the efficiency of conversion of the absorbed energy into light. Through thin layers of stilbene on plexiglass, high-energy p-radiation passes with a partial transformation of its energy into light, the rest of which passes, without being delayed in thin layers. When using a substrate for thin layers of stilbene from scintillating plastic instead of plexiglass, it is possible to more fully convert the p-radiation of large-scale energy into light. Thus, when appropriately matched.
