Description

Известны приборы дл  измерени  «/-активности дочерних продукгоз радона в воздухе не позвол ют улавливать все а частицы, наход щиес  в данном объеме воздуха, а поэтому определение полной энергии а-распада при помощи таких приборов производитс  со значительной погрешностью .Instruments for measuring the ' -activity of the daughter products of radon in the air are not possible to capture all the particles that are in a given volume of air, and therefore the determination of the total energy of a-decay using such devices is performed with considerable error.

The proposed device is designed as a nozzle to a scintillation counter containing a spiral-shaped chamber through which air with radioactive aerosols passes. Deposition of aerosols is carried out in a filter fixed against flat scintillitorg. This difference makes it possible to determine the total a-decay energy of the radon daughter products in a given air volume.

The drawing shows the proposed device.

The air containing radioactive aerosols passes through the spiral-shaped chamber I and uniformly from all sides is brought to the space between the phosphor 2 and the filter 3, the distance between which is chosen to be approximately 2 mm. air passes through filter 3 and is removed through tube 4, while radioactive aerosols are deposited inside the filter. The shape of the spiral chamber is selected from the minimum deposition of aerosols on its walls.

The manufacture of a filter with a diameter equal to the diameter of the phosphor, with a distance of about 2 mm between them, ensures the registration of all a-particles emitted from the surface of the filter towards the phosphor. The spiral chamber of the nozzle does not interfere with the movement of air, and o.j, at the same time, reliably protects the phosphor from light rays. The predetermined distance between the phosphor and the filter is set using adjustment screws 5. The device is designed as a nozzle to a scintillator counter.

The proposed device can be used in medicine and in various enterprises to control the air pollution of industrial premises by the children of radon.

Subject invention

A device for measuring the a-activity of the daughter of radon products in the air, characterized in that, in order to determine the total energy of a-decay in a given volume of air, it is designed as an attachment to a scintillation counter having a spiral chamber through which air is passed, containing radioactive aerosols, followed by their deposition in a filter fixed against a planar scintillator.
