Description

Methods are known for producing high molecular weight polyamides from dicarboxylic acid esters of diamines.

Due to the high volatility of the diamine, which is in the free state, a significant part of it is removed from the reaction zone with low molecular weight reaction products, alcohol, etc., which leads to a change in the ratio of the components. As a result, a low molecular weight polyamide is formed.

The proposed method for the preparation of high molecular weight poly, amide is characterized in that the polycondensation process is carried out in the presence of water.

As a result, the ability of diesters to be easily hydrolyzed in an alkaline medium (due to the presence of diamines) is used with the release of alcohol and acid, which immediately forms the corresponding salt with the diamine. Therefore, the application of the proposed method eliminates the need for preliminary hydrolysis of esters, isolation of dicarboxylic acids and the preparation of the latter salts with diamines.

The method also allows maintaining a constant ratio of components in the course of the reaction, the change of which will ensure the regulation of the molecular weight of the polyamides obtained.

Example 1. In a reactor equipped with a reflux condenser and a stirrer, 25.5 g of hexamethylenediamine, 49 g of sebacic dimethyl ester and 8 g of water are charged.

The reaction mass is slowly, within 3-4 hours, heated to 270 °, then steam is supplied to the refrigerator instead of water. At 270 ° C and continuous stirring the floor and condensation is continued for 6 hours.

The polymer is cooled by oxygen-free nitrogen.

0,6-0,8.The specific viscosity of a 0.5% polyamide solution in tricresol is 0.6–0.8.

To increase the viscosity, the polymer is subjected to additional polycondensation at 270 ° and a residual pressure of 3-6 mm Hg. Art. within 2-4 hours
