Abstract

The device serves to continuously feed a workpiece with regard to a tool, such as, for example, the wire of an electrical discharge cutting unit, in particular in numerically controlled machine tools. The device has a longitudinal slide rest (1) and a swivel slide rest (3) on which a work holder (4) together with workpiece (5) is freely mounted and can be selectively clamped on one of the two slide rests (1 or 3) by means of electromagnets. The swivel slide rest (3) is mounted on a cross slide rest (2); the latter is movable along a guide perpendicular to the guide of the longitudinal slide rest (1). During the driving of the work holder (4) by the longitudinal slide rest (1), straight cuts can be made in the workpiece (5), e.g. with the wire (6) of an electrical discharge cutting unit; on the other hand, circular-arc-shaped cuts are obtained as a result of the driving of the work holder (4) by the swivel slide rest (3). The radius of the circular arc is determined by the distance between the axis (8) of the tool (6) and the axis of the swivel slide rest (3). This distance can be selected by means of the cross slide rest (2). Spatial cuts, such as, for example, bevels, can also be made by inclining the axis (8) of the tool (6). <IMAGE>
