Abstract

FIELD: measuring technology. SUBSTANCE: proposed process is based on usage of natural diamonds with content of nitrogen less than $$$ atm/cu.cm. In agreement with the process, crystals with life time of charge carriers of the order $$$ are selected and are sawn into plates of 0.2-0.3 mm thick. Plates are etched with air oxygen in the course of several minutes at temperature of 800-900 C. Metal contacts are deposited on opposite sides of plates. For improvement of time reduction of detectors, plate is again subjected to irradiation with ionizing radiation with dose of the order of $$$ rad. In process of irradiation, duration of pulse of manufactured detector is measured at half-height and irradiation is discontinued when pulse duration appears to be with 0.1-0.3 ns limit. In compliance with another version of the process, irradiation is performed by flux of electrons from accelerator with energy 2.0-6.0 MeV with simultaneous cooling of irradiated plate to temperature not higher than 20 C. EFFECT: improved time resolution of manufactured detectors.
