Description

A known machine for edging, for example, notebooks with paper tape, comprising an adhesive apparatus, applying glue to paper tape that is being rolled up from a roll, a crimping device, two endless tape transnorter, carrying out the writing of notebooks, a funnel for bending the tape around the notebook page and a device for separating notebooks from each other.

The described machine has some distinctive features that allow to increase its productivity. These features consist in the fact that it is equipped with a feeder, and the device for separating the notebooks from each other is made in the form of a knife fixed on the housing of the friction clutch, equipped with a stop, which is periodically released when the notebook is approached using a system of levers; the latter is set in motion by an electromagnet, the contacts of which are closed by a notebook. The feeder in this machine is made in the form of a magazine for notebooks with inclined fixed front and movable rear walls and one side wall, provided with horizontal grooves for securing and installing the rear wall in a certain position, with the bottom of the magazine supporting, freely rotating rollers and, partly, straps lower endless belt conveyor.

The machine includes a feeder 1, an adhesive apparatus 2, a crimping device consisting of a series of interacting upper 3 and lower 4 rollers; two endless belt conveyors 5 and 6, driven by the drive rollers 7; funnel 8 for bending the ribbon; a device 9 for separating notebooks each other and a portable conveyor 10.

The side wall has horizontal grooves 15 for mounting and securing the rear wall 13 in a certain position depending on the length of the notebooks. The store bottom serves as supporting, freely rotating rollers 16 and, partially, belts of the lower belt conveyor 6. In the lower part of the front wall 12 a slot is made to exit the next lower notebook from the store. The height of the slit is adjusted by the gate 17, depending on the thickness of the notebook. The glue unit 2, mounted between the feeder and the crimping device, consists of a glue bath with a glue mixer 18, a glue-and-cement roller 19 and a tape guiding rubber roller 20.

Under the glue unit there is a roll 21 of paper tape, and in front of the crimper is a hopper 8 for bending the tape around the spine of the notebook.

The upper rollers 3 of the crimping device, together with the conveyor 5, can be moved vertically, depending on the thickness of the notebooks, using the handle 22 and the screw gear 23.

Before the last pair of rollers of the crimping device, a device 9 for separating notebooks from each other, made in the form of a knife 24 mounted on the housing 25 freely mounted on the shaft 26 is mounted. The housing 25 is connected by means of a spring 27 to the housing 28 of a friction clutch, also freely mounted on the shaft 26. The latter is rigidly fixed to a disk 29 with a friction gasket 30, pressed against the housing 28 by a spring 31. The housing 25 is provided with an abutment 32 against the lever 33 connected with the core of the electromagnet 34, which is provided with contacts 55Ocher One notebook at the approach to the knife 24 closes the contacts 35. The electromagnet 34 is triggered, and the lever 33 releases the stop 32.

The spring-loaded housing 25 with the knife 24 is rotated, and the knife 24 with a force hits the paper tape between two adjacent notebooks, cutting it, after which the lever 33 locks the housing 25 with the knife 24 again, abutting the abutment 32, and the rotating disk 29 turns at some angle the body 28, the plant spring 27.

All working bodies of the machine receive movement from the electric motor 36, through the gear 37 and the system of belt and gear transmissions.

The machine works as follows.

Before entering the crimping device, the paper tape, which was pre-glued on one side with the aid of a knurled roller 19, is folded with a funnel 8 around the spine of notebooks. The backs of notebooks with glued paper tape are compressed by rollers 5 and the notebooks are conveyed by conveyors 5 to 6 to the knife 24, which cuts the tape between the notebooks. Then the edged notebooks are carried away by the conveyor 10.
