The invention relates to optical instrumentation (refractometry) and can be used to measure the refractive indices of highly sensitive liquid media without reducing the measurement locality. A refractometer is known, which contains a radiation source and a flat optical fiber and a photodetector connected to an electrical circuit successively polarized along the radiation path. Radiation B of a planar fiber is propagated due to complete internal reflection of the guiding planes of the fiber. The required measurement accuracy by a known device is achieved due to multiple reflections of light at an angle of PVO. The dimensions of the sensitive element increase with an increase in the number of reflections of radiation from the boundary with the medium under study. The main drawback of the device is the low accuracy of measurements at a certain locality of measurement, since precision requires an increase in the size of the fiber. Closest to the invention in technical essence and the achieved positive effect is a refractometer containing a source of radiation and successively located along the course of radiation a light guide and a photodetector connected to the recorder. The light guide is made in the form of a curved optical fiber 2. The disadvantage of this device is the low measurement accuracy of the refractive index associated with the complexity of the bending of the fiber over a given radius. The aim of the invention is to improve the accuracy of measurement of the refractive index. The goal is achieved by the fact that in a refractometer containing a radiation source and sequentially located along the radiation path the light guide and the photodetector connected to the receiver, the light guide is made in the form of a transparent tube, and the radiation source is set at an angle 9 to its axis, and the ratio of the thickness of the tube S to its outer diameter D satisfies the condition where n is the maximum refractive index from the sensitivity range of the refractometer; 11 - the refractive index of the tube material. Figure 1 presents the structural diagram of the refractometer in figure 2 the course of the beam in the light guide. The device consists of a source of light 1, a transparent tube 2, a photodetector 3 and an electric circuit 4. A tube 2 is placed in the test liquid. The device works as follows. The radiation from source 1 propagates along trajectories in the form of spiral polygons inside transparent tube 2. The limiting angle of the total internal reflection of light from the tube surface depends on the refractive index of the fluid into which the tube is immersed. Therefore, the intensity of the light transmitted through the tube depends on the refractive index of the liquid into which the tube is buried. The signal of the photodetector 3, proportional to the intensity of the transmitted light, is processed by the electronic circuit 4. The refractive index measurement accuracy is increased due to the repeated reflection of light from the walls of the transparent tube with a strictly defined ratio to the thickness of its thickness S ,. diameter D and the angle of the axis of the radiator to the axis of the tube. The optimum ratio of the diameter of the tube D and its wall thickness S is such that when immersed in a liquid with a maximum measurable refractive index n, the rays sliding along the inner wall of the tube arrive at the outer wall at the limiting angle of total internal reflection. I To determine the ratio of the diameter of the tube D and the thickness of its wall, we consider the course of the beam in the fiber (figure 2). Let the beam KR touch the inner wall of the tube at the point K. Such a beam is reflected from the outer wall of the tube at an angle of 6 at the point P. This angle is maximum for the rays to fall on the outer wall of the tube 00 - the axis of the tube. to PN lies in the cross-sectional plane of the tube, and
