The invention relates to the machining of materials and can be used in the optical industry. A device for centering and faceting lenses is known, which contains two coaxially positioned cartridges with spring-loaded flanges installed in them, carrying basic supports for contact with the lens, and made in the form of outer rings of ball bearings 1. The disadvantage of the known device is the relatively large radial dimensions of ball bearings, which it makes it difficult to handle small lenses, as well as a reduction in centering accuracy with a decrease in lens curvature. The purpose of the invention is to expand the technological capabilities of the device and improve the accuracy of centering. The goal is achieved by the fact that in the device for centering lenses containing two coaxially positioned cartridges with mounted spring-loaded flanges carrying basic supports intended for contact with the lens, the basic supports are made in the form of transparent, plane-parallel plates mounted for movement in a plane perpendicular to the axis of the cartridges, and an interference collimator mounted in one of the cartridges coaxial to it is inserted into the device. When plates approach each other, they (for convex lenses) perform the same function as ball bearings — they position the axis of the lens perpendicular to the planes of the plates. Screws are inserted into the device to radially move the lens with the plates and align its axis with the axis of the cartridges. Since the lens touches the plates at two central points, the dimensions of the plates are much smaller, and the interference collimator can significantly improve the centering accuracy — in the order of wavelength. The drawing shows the device section. In two vertically mounted coaxial chucks 1 and 2 of the centering machine, equipped with clamping edges 3, there are movable glass high-precision plane-parallel plates 4 and 5, between which a two-fold lens 6 is clamped. A radially movable abrasive circle 7 is positioned at the side of the lens. Plate 5 rests on the balls 8 placed on the flange 9 spring-loaded to the cartridge 2 by the spring 10, and the plate 4 contacts through the same balls 11 with the movable flange 12, which is pressed against it by the spring 13. The plate 4 has cylindrical projection 14, which abut against adjusting screws 15 intended for moving the plates with the lens in a plane perpendicular to the ammunition axis. On the axis of the cartridge 1 is located autocollimator 16. The device operates as follows. At the beginning between the expanded cartridges 1 and 2, the lens 6 is inserted and the upper leading cartridge 1 is lowered until the lens 6 and the plate 4 touch. When the cartridge 1 is further lowered, the elastic force of the springs 10 and 13 through the flanges 9 and 12 installed inside the cartridges 1 and 2 high precision sliding fit, crimping the lens with a force of 2-3 kg. In this case, the axis of the lens 6 occupies a position coaxial with the axis of the cartridges 1 and 2, since the minimum distance between parallel tangents (the flat surfaces of the plates 4 and 5) coincides with the axis of the lens. In this position, the collimator a 16 (or a laser, which has two orders of magnitude higher accuracy) with the help of screws 15 and a VTO system plate system 4 - lens 6 - plate 5 give radial movement of balls 8 and 11, aligning the axis of the cartridges with the axis lenses 6 with an accuracy of 0.002 mm. At the same time, there is still a gap between the edges 3 and the lens 6. Upon further movement of the cartridge 1, the lens 6 is crimped by edges 3 and its optical axis is securely fixed on the axis of the cartridges. Further, the rotating abrasive wheel 7 brought to the diameter of the lens grinds the glass, forming the outer diameter coaxial with the axis of the lens, i.e., the lens 6 is centered with great accuracy. Thus, the proposed invention allows to increase not only the accuracy of the centering, but also to expand the technological capabilities due to the processing of small-sized lenses.
