Description
Existing methods for masking separations of negatives and transparencies do not provide high quality color reproduction, since with accurate reproduction of a limited number of colors not exceeding three, they cannot eliminate the resulting color separation distortions for a large number of other colors of color gamut.
The proposed masking method allows one to automatically reproduce up to seven colors of the color gamut automatically and, with accurate reproduction of a limited number of colors, obtains a good reproduction for most colors by eliminating the distortion resulting from masking. The method also makes it possible to improve the quality of color reproduction and to mechanize the correction of color separation images. This is achieved by the fact that in order to excite one mask, two three-band filters are used and the exposure time in making the mask is chosen so that the optical density of the neutral-gray color of the original is equal to the mask of the optical density of the veil.
The masks are made with a combination of negatives and transparencies, which are obtained using three-band light filters, which apply constant transmission in each of the three spectral zones, the value of which is determined depending on the spectro-photometric properties of printing inks. The effect of three-zone light filters is carried out by successively exposing negatives or transparencies obtained using conventional zone light filters on a photo layer. The exposure time of the mask is chosen so that the exo-scoring acting on the photo layer for making a white color of the combined negative and slide through the white section corresponds to the intersection point of the continuation of the straight line section and the veil section of the characteristic curve of the photo layer. The test pattern is produced up to the calculated gamma value.
