.about x: d: l The invention relates to a measuring tech- nique and can be used in the electronic and radio engineering industries for non-destructive examination of the structure and determination of the parameters of various reflecting systems, mainly in the superhigh-frequency range. The known method of ellipsometry is based on dividing an electromagnetic wave reflected from a studied object into two orthogonal components, directing them along two channels, secondary dividing each of the orthogonal components into two waves of equal intensity and separating the polarization angles in the calodom measuring channel. The ratio of the amplitudes of the orthogonal components is measured by detecting them and feeding the signals from the detectors to the meter of the ratio of two voltages, the aphasic shift between them by simultaneously feeding the orthogonal components of the wave to the detector, "leveling their amplitudes by rotating polarizing wire grating and measuring They are intercepted by an angular phase shifter, inserted1 into one of the arms of the second measuring channel jjL. The disadvantage of this method is the low accuracy of measurements of the phase difference of the orthogonal components, since the measurement is performed directly at an ultra-high frequency. The closest to the present invention is a method of frequency-modulation ellipsometry, which, when implemented, directs electromagnetic radiation with a given state of polarization. On the sample under study, the radiation interacting with the sample under investigation is divided into two beams with orthogonal polarization planes and recorded a change in the polarization state of the one that interacted with the sample under study. radiation compared with the direction of his 2, However, the well-known. method is characterized by low measurement accuracy. The purpose of the invention. - improving the accuracy of measurements. The goal is achieved by the method of frequency modulation ellipsometry, which, when implemented, directs electromagnetic radiation with a given state of polarization to the sample under study, chooses the radiation that interacts with the sample to be divided into two beams, orthogonal to the polarization planes. state of polarization of the radiation applied to the sample under study compared with that directed to it, directed. for the sample under study, the electromylagic radiation is modulated in frequency, in one of the beams the polarization plane is rotated by 90 and mixed in a balanced mixer with the second beam, the low-frequency component of the resulting signal is measured and its parameters are measured by which the change in state is measured nii poli roatsii. The drawing shows a functional diagram of a device for carrying out the method. The method is carried out as follows. A beam of electromagnetic waves that are polarized in a certain way, for example, linearly, is modulated in frequency according to a periodic law with a low constant frequency f "and a constant frequency deviation relative to the average frequency ig and directed at an angle tf to the object under study. The reflected or transmitted wave is divided into two orthogonal components using a polarizing wire grid, directing them into two channels, turning the plane of polarization of one of the waves through 90, feeding them to the two inputs of the balanced mixer, separating the signal at the output of the balanced mixer difference frequency and measure the amplitude and phase of the low-frequency component of the resulting signal, which are judged on the change in the polarization state resulting from the interaction of the electromagnetic wave with the probe object th. Since the polarization angles that need to be measured and which are a quantitative measure of the changes in the polarization state that occurred as a result of the interaction of an electromagnetic wave with the object under study, depend on the frequency of the incident radiation, the modulation of the incident radiation according to a periodic law at a low constant frequency, P leads to a relative amplitude and phase modulation of one orthogonal component relative to the other. Phase modulation results in a relative frequency shift of one of the orthogonal components. As a result, a differential frequency signal (beat) is produced at the output of the balanced mixer, which is detected by the detector and the parameters of which carry information about the polarization angles. The principal feature of the proposed method lies in the fact that the selected low-frequency signal, the emissive frequency carries information. only about changes in the polarization state that occurred as a result of interaction with the object under study. Since the parameters of the polarization ellipse of the incident wave do not depend on the frequency, hence the periodic frequency modulation does not lead to a continuous change in the phase of one component relative to the other, therefore, there is no phase shift between them and, therefore, a signal of different frequency at the output of the balanced mixer. The proposed device implementing this method contains a microwave sweep generator 1 with a power supply unit 2, three waveguide-beam transitions. A quasi-optical front line 1 & 4 based on a hollow dielectric beam: the water / in the bend of which the test sample 5 is installed, the beam divider 6 into two orthogonal components, a waveguide path containing. twist 7 by 90 ° and the balanced mixer 8, the detector 9 and the measuring unit 10. The device operates as follows. s Signal from microwave sweep-generator 1, modulated in frequency according to a periodic law with a low frequency. The RID and the CONSTANT maximum deviation U t with respect to the average frequency i (j through the waveguide-beam transition 3 through the hollow dielectric light guide 4 enters the sample under study 5 at an angle C, the incident wave is linearly polarized at an angle of 45 to the plane of incidence. Reflected from sample 5, a wave generally polarized elliptically along a dielectric waveguide falls on a beam divider 6, made on the basis of a one-dimensional plane of a metal grid that is mounted at an angle of 45 ° to the beam axis and directs mutually ortho The main component waves in two channels. Orthogonal components through waveguide-beam transitions 3 along hollow straight carbon metal waveguides fall on two inputs of a balanced mixer 8, and the polarization plane of one of the components is rotated by 90 °, so the signals to the input of the balanced | GO mixer are identified. DeiTexTop 9, installed at the output of the balanced mixer, separates the low-frequency component of the signal equal to the intermediate frequency. The low-frequency signal from the detector is fed to the input of the measuring unit 10, which records the parameters of the intermediate-frequency difference signal, according to which a change in the polridization state is judged, upon reflection of the microwave wave from the sample under study. Measurements of the proposed method are carried out on the installation depicted in the drawing. During the measurement, the c1 amplitude and phase of the first six harmonics of the detected signal are determined. The main advantage of the proposed method in comparison with the known method is the expansion of functionality due to the exclusion of the operation of making samples of a special form. This makes it possible to measure the dielectric constant of erosion-resistant film coatings of tiles of heat-shielding materials. It is impossible to carry out such a control using the basic method, since it is impossible to manufacture cylindrical specimens with a diameter of 49, 95 mm from the film coating material. The advantage of the proposed method is also the possibility of simultaneously determining the dielectric constant and thickness of the erosion-resistant protective coating. All this makes it possible to use the proposed method for non-destructive testing of erosion-resistant film coatings directly at the production stage of heat-shielding rods. The economic effect of using the proposed method for non-destructive testing of the unevenness of the erosion-resistant coating of heat-shielding tiles will be 77.5 thousand rubles. in year. The effect increases due to an increase in the yield of usable products from 98 to 98.5% by detecting billets, the unevenness and thickness of erosion-resistant coatings of which are outside the allowable technological limits, and excluding them from further. technological cycle. In addition, labor productivity is increased 5 times due to the fact that when measuring the dielectric constant of an erosion resistant coating there is no need to make special samples of the material of an erosion resistant coating used to measure the dielectric constant according to the basic method ...
