This invention relates to electrothermal conditions. Known rotating water-cooled non-consumable electrodes are known, which contain a hollow body, to which a removable tip having an end working surface is fastened, and a recess mounted in the plane of the body so that between it and the walls of the body and tip there is a gap for refrigerant 1 and 2 The electric arc of a constant current between the water-cooled tip of the electrode, located at a certain angle to the metal bath mirror, and the molten metal. When the electrode rotates around its own axis at a speed of up to 250 rpm, the reference spot of the arc moves along the tip surface, which causes its slight wear even with a large heat generation in the spot of the arc. However, it is necessary to install special devices for current, water inlets , the difficulty of implementing a reliable vacuum sealing of a fast-rotating electrode housing greatly complicates the design of the electrode and the melting furnace as a whole, which reduces its reliability. A non-consumable electrode for melting metals and alloys is known, which contains a water-cooled body, a tip attached to it, in which a solenoid connected to a current lead is installed, the tip and solenoid being electrically connected in series with a DC. The disadvantage of this electrode is low reliability due to the inability to control the magnetic field strength of the solenoid and the lack of initial excitation of the solenoid (when there is no current in the circuit, there is no magnetic field which is very important in the starting mode. The purpose of the invention is to improve the reliability operation of the electrode. This goal is achieved due to the fact that the electrode is equipped with an additional current lead connected to the tip and the solenoid. Figure 1 shows the design of the electrode; Figure 2 - c The electrode contains a water-cooled case 1, a deflector 2, and also connected in series to the electrical circuit of the current lead.3 solenoid 4 and detachable tip 5, and an additional current lead b included in the electrical circuit between the solenoid and the tip. My design is universal in its application possibilities. Using only the current lead 3, it is possible to carry out the operation of the device according to the sequential excitation circuit of the solenoid. By connecting one pole of the arc power source to the current lead 6, and the auxiliary source to the current leads 3 and 6, they work according to the independent solenoid excitation circuit. The proposed design allows easy adjustment of the magnetic field strength of the solenoid when powered from a single current source (Fig. 2). There are several possible characteristic modes of operation of the electrode and the corresponding ranges of adjusting the strength of the solenoid field (Fig. 2). In the starting mode, the potentiometer slider is in position I. Most of the power supply current passes through current lead 6, coils of solenoid 4, current lead 3. The field strength of the solenoid is greatest, providing the best conditions for starting the arc. In the operating mode, depending on the position of the engine, the supplied current is redistributed along the current leads 3 and b. The magnitude of the solenoid current is set in accordance with the desired melting mode. Higher operating currents correspond to lower values of the current of the solenoid. In the extreme mode, the potentiometer is in position III. The main share of the current passes through the current lead b, tip 5, a bath of liquid metal. The arc current is maximum, the value of the solenoid field has an optimal (smallest) value. Thus, the proposed design of a non-consumable electrode, with its simplicity and reliability, allows to control the magnitude of the solenoid tension and, accordingly, the speed of movement of the reference spot on the tip surface over a wide range. The proposed non-consumable electrode design has been successfully tested. on in the smelting of titanium alloys from the lump charge at the Zaporozhye engineering plant. Melting was carried out in a VDL-5 vacuum skull oven with currents of 8-10 kA in reverse polarity. Regulation of the magnetic field strength of the solenoid in the process of melting allows you to expand the technological capabilities of the non-consumable electrode, affect the intensity of the lemesh, the melt, the depth and shape of the bath. Held melts demonstrate reliable operation of the proposed non-consumable electrode.
