Abstract

The present invention relates to personal care and home care products containing antimicrobial compositions and, more specifically. to silver dihydrogen citrate or ionic silver in combination with any organic acid or chelating agents or hydrogen peroxide (here in after referred to as "ionic silver complex") in the function of a hard surface disinfectant or a similar biocidal function in such a way the formulation is stabilized and effective by the silver ion being bioavailable at the point of use. Bioavailability is defined as making the silver ion responsible for antibacterial effect wherein the silver reacts is available to react with essential organic structures within the bacteria or fungal or viral entities and disrupt their reproduction or function or metabolism resulting in their death. The method of formulation and compounding will ensure that the chelating complex around the silver ion stays intact within the targeted formulation and be made bioavailability at the point of use.
