Abstract
The present invention relates to the field of video image processing, and provides a filtering method for removing a blocking artifact and an apparatus, to resolve a problem that subjective quality and objective quality of an image deteriorate because filtering processing cannot be performed on an internal compensation block of a prediction unit. The method includes: dividing a 5 prediction unit into at least two subunits; traversing each of the at least two subunits, and determining at least one filtering boundary of the at least two subunits based on a preset rule; obtaining a first pixel value of a first subunit and a first pixel value of a second subunit, where the first subunit and the second subunit are adjacent to the filtering boundary; and performing, based on the first pixel value of the first subunit and the first pixel value of the second subunit, filtering 10 processing on pixels adjacent to the filtering boundary.
