The method sends a CB alert message to a plurality of communication devices in an alert area through a wireless communication channel. The CB alert message is sent by a CB alert system. Further, each of the plurality of the communication devices includes a CB message handling applica- tion for handling such CB alert messages. The method further receives one or more acknowledge- ment messages from one or more communication devices. The one or more acknowledgement mes- sages are received in response to receipt of the CB alert message at the plurality of communication devices. The one or more acknowledgement mes- sages are received from the CB message handling application in respective communication devices.
