Abstract
PRECISION SECURING DEVICE A precision securing device, the device comprising: a central longitudinal hole to receive a 5 shaft therein from a first end of the device; a gripping portion around the central longitudinal hole to fixedly secure an upper part of the shaft therein; and an adjustment portion around the central longitudinal hole adjacent the first end of the device, the adjustment portion having a number of lateral adjustment holes opening into the central longitudinal hole, each of the adjustment holes being threaded to receive and allow 10 passage of an adjustment screw into the central longitudinal hole to contact a lower part of the shaft in the central longitudinal hole; wherein a first diameter of the central longitudinal hole at the adjustment portion is larger than a second diameter of the central longitudinal hole at the gripping portion, and wherein runout of the shaft when secured to the device is adjustable by adjusting depth of entry of each adjustment screw into the central 15 longitudinal hole to displace the lower part of the shaft when the upper part of the shaft has been fixedly secured in the gripping portion.
