Abstract

Oyster Opening Apparatus The present invention provides an oyster opening apparatus (100, 100a). The apparatus has a support channel (110) connected to a stanchion (120). A connecting rod (140) with notches (144) on a lower edge is adjustably connected to the stanchion in a rocking manner. A lever (170) is pivoted at an upper lobe (172) to an end of the connecting rod whilst a shucking member (190) is connected to a lower lobe (174). A handle (180) at a free end of the lever allows a user to controllably apply a force (F1) and transmit the force to the shucking member (190) to pry open the oyster (10) disposed on the support channel. A depression (114) on the support channel provides two contact points on the oyster, while an aperture (124), a stopper plate (125) or face (121) on the stanchion provides a third contact point to stably locate the oyster.
