Abstract

An electric power system has at least two electric power plants, each one with an ac machine (3a..3n) driven by a renewable energy source (2a..2n). Each one of the ac machines is connected to its own converter (4a..4n), which operates as a rectifier. Further, the electric power system has an HVDC transmission line (7) for transmission of the power produced by the electric power stations. In addition thereto, the electric power system comprises a converter (8), operating as an inverter, for further transmission via a power transformer (9) of the power, transmitted by means of the HVDC transmission line, to a distribution or transmission network. A series link is formed, consisting of a series connection of the output sides of the rectifiers and the input side of the inverter via the HVDC transmission line.
