Abstract

The base stations (BS1-BS5) serving the cells are synchronised to transmit control channels with the same periodicity in each cell, but also shifted with respect to each other. Only one control channel is transmitted at a time over the time-shared radio frequency for the control channels. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Time-shared multiple access is used to divide up the channels, each channel being represented by a time interval in a radio frequency, and eight channels forming a set. The control channels are used for transmitting a number of logic control channels comprising broadcast control channels (BCCH), synchronisation channels (SCH), frequency correction channels (FCCH) and paging and access grant channels (PAGCH). The system is based on low band to 450 MHz GSM. - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included - for a mobile station used in the radio system.
