Abstract

An extra transformer with a lower power than the first transformer (1) is connected to the multi-phase alternating voltage conductor (2) on one side and to a converter on the other side. The converter is coupled in series with the rectifier (9) on its direct voltage side (12) and includes controllable power semiconductors. If the direct voltage supplied to the live conductor (14) for the train (15) exceeds a first given value, then power is returned from this conductor to the alternating voltage conductor (2) via the extra transformer, in order to maintain the direct voltage below this threshold value. - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for a power transmission method using this arrangement.
