Abstract
The cables (9) forming the coil are positioned inside a groove in such a way that the ratio between the magnetic flow leakage path (12) and the principle magnetic flow path (15) through the grooved component around all the cables in the groove is greater than is the case if each cable is positioned in a precise external and internal radial position relative to the adjoining cable layer. The magnetic flow leakage occurs via the cables in the part of the groove nearest the second rotor or stator part. - The machine contains a magnetic circuit which has a grooved component in a first part of a rotor and a stator, the groove being used to a receive a coil forming a layer of cables extending in an axial direction. The cables comprise a conductor and an outer insulation layer.
