Abstract

The air intake is divided into several areas, one of which (6) forms the inlet end for the air channel (10), whilst the other areas form entrances to inlet pipes (5) leading into this channel. These inlet pipes connect with the air channel at different axial positions in a channel length section (8), and at an acute angle with this section. The inlet pipes are tapered towards this channel section, the degree of tapering being chosen to make the air velocity greater at the inlet pipe exit relative to the air velocity inside the channel section immediately upstream from where it is joined by these pipes.
