Abstract

The method involves mounting a rotor rotatably in a stator and fitting the stator with a number of commutating pole coils (3). Each coil is wound with an offset between at least some outer windings closest to the rotor when installed and the next windings in sequence to form hollow volume (12) on the coil. Recesses form engagement surfaces for locking protrusions (11) on the pole carriers (10). Independent claims are also included for a commutating pole coil for a rotating electrical machine and for a coil carrier for fixing a commutating pole coil onto a stator.
