Abstract

The method involves switching on a cooling arrangement for the cooling of the intake air, in an upper load range of the motor, and off in a lower load range, whereby the cooling arrangement (9,10) is switched on, if a knock tendency of the motor (1) oversteps a presettable threshold. A delayed ignition angle adjustment is preferably determined as indicator for the knock tendency. An Independent claim is included for a corresponding regulation arrangement.
