Abstract

The saw blades (11) are rotated so that the periphery facing the conveyor (10) and piece of timber (17) is travelling in the opposite direction to the timber, and during lowering of the saw blade into position a pressing device (36) suspended from arms (23) is also lowered so that the bottom side of it is urged against the top side of the timber upstream from the saw blade. The conveyor bar (13) guides the timber underneath the pressing device when the timber comes into contact with the saw blade.
