Abstract

A dispersion or sol of inorganic particles with a high specific surface area is added to the pulp suspension before the forming step. A method for improving the formation and printability of printing grade paper, comprises the addition of a silica sol and cationic starch to the pulp suspension prior to the forming step, the suspension comprising at least one paper pulp and an inorganic filler. A further dispersion or sol of inorganic particles with a high specific surface area is added to the pulp suspension before forming. An Independent claim is also included for paper made by this method.
