Abstract

Method to prevent occurrence and growth of pathogenic microorganisms, especially Legionella bacteria, in water mains, wherein all incoming both hot as well as cold water (1, 2) is UV irradiated by means of several UV tubes (4) oriented essentially across the flowing direction of the water, that the incoming hot water is being heated to at least 70 DEG C, preferably at least 75 DEG C, that the heated hot water is mixed with UV irradiated cold water to the desired hot water temperature and being distributed to the tapping points (8), and that the hot water to the tapping points is circulated, whereby it is UV irradiated again and heated to at least 70 DEG C, preferably at least 75 DEG C.
