Abstract

The wood pieces (5) are moved individually across the sunken chambers (3) by a conveyor (6) for grading and one or more vertical dampers (10) for damping the movement of the wood in the horizontal direction are provided in the upper section of the corresponding chamber on the downstream side seen from the transport direction of the wood. The dampers can be freely suspended and are made of material such as fabric, rubber or plastics, and can have one or more weighting or stiffening elements along their lower edges.
