Abstract

Pressurised pre-treatment liquid for the cellulosic material is added to the pre-treatment vessel using a spray device to generate basing vapour. Process equipment for pre-treating broken down cellulosic material comprises a pre-treatment vessel (20) with an inlet (21) and outlet (22) for the cellulosic material, supply, discharge and overflow flows (23-25) for the pretreatment liquid, and a chemical addition location (26). A spray device (27) in the pre-treatment vessel acts as a decompression device for the pressurised pre-treatment liquid added to the vessel, generating basing vapour for the cellulosic material inside this vessel. Independent claims are also included for (a) a process system and (b) the process utilising this equipment.
