Abstract

The present invention relates to a transgenic Brassica plant resistant to Brassica-attacking insect pests, comprising in its genome at least one DNA sequence coding for a foreign lectin inhibitory to said insect pests together with a promoter active in the Brassica plant, as well as an expression cassette comprising a DNA clone which codes for said lectin (lectins), a method of imparting resistance to insects, and a new lectin; a method for protecting Brassica.
