Abstract
Halftoning method based on the use of pre-computed maps, one for each possible tone value in the image, at halftoning the image value at a specific position gives the map from which a pixel is copied into the halftone at the corresponding position. The maps with low or high densities have maximally spread minority dots but in intermediate maps a successive transition takes place from maximally spread dots to structured dot clusters of defined type for instance straight lines.
