Abstract
The method for transferring data in time slots in parallel bit streams along optical fibres involves reading, in a node, at least one of two or more incoming bitstreams as a whole. Further optical propagation of the bitstream is prevented along the shared medium. The bitstream is regenerated and transmitted as an outgoing bitstream from the node. Finally at least one other of the parallel bit-streams bypasses the node without regeneration or essential modification. The node is arranged to write data into at least one of the time slots in the one incoming bitstream. The data is written into the time slots in the outgoing bitstream in association with the regeneration.
