Abstract

Data is exchanged between an electrical system 7 that has a write/read module 6 and a smart card 9. The smart card has an embedded processor 12 and this is communicated with via contact pads 11. When the system is used as an on board system for road vehicle toll charges the processor 8 of the equipment can remotely communicate with a central station.
