Abstract
Pulsed current frequency, pulse duration and/or pulse length are varied to form a number of frequency-height-length combinations and those which lead to a discharge across the electrodes are registered, the voltage values being used to choose the combination for subsequent operation of the separator. A method for controlling the supply of pulsed DC current to an electrostatic separator (1) containing high voltage emission and precipitation electrodes, comprises an internal control process in which the maximum voltage between the electrodes during the individual pulses is measured. Pulsed current frequency, pulse duration and/or pulse length are varied to form a number of frequency-height-length combinations and those which lead to a discharge across the electrodes are registered, the voltage values being used to choose the combination for subsequent operation of the separator.
